EV3 Motor Power vs. Rotation Speed – Affinity Laws and a Cool Experiment to Try!

Have you ever wondered what the relationship between power and speed was with an EV3 motor? It may be tempting to think that it’s perfectly linear; that a 50% input power gives you 50% of the rotation speed. However, this is not the case in the real world. This week, I do an experiment where we use three different EV3 motors to find the relationship between input power and rotation speed. The answer may surprise you; it reveals some pretty cool things about the inner workings of the EV3 brick. I also relate the findings of my experiment to the real world, such as affinity laws.
