Exploring the Sample Challenges Offered by the VRT

This week’s video will cover the various sample challenges offered by the Virtual Robotics Toolkit that will test your robot building skills. Also, I will discuss the new WRO Virtual category, which allows you to submit a virtual robot and compete from home.

The Virtual Robotics Toolkit (VRT) is a robotics simulation software made by Cogmation robotics, and allows you to prototype an EV3/NXT creation without the need for a physical robot, offering a cost-effective alternative. If you are interested in learning more, check it out on the Cogmation website here.

My Patreon supporter(s) for more than $5 for the month of January were: Venkateshalu, Albert Bricker, Stephen Rozmiarek and Turnabout Akamia. Thank you so much!

Mindsensors EV3Lights – Tips, Tricks and Hacks

This week, I’m discussing the new EV3Lights by Mindsensors. I will explain what they are, what’s included in the package, talk about alternative power options, as well as how to program them and teach you a few of my very own hacks (multicolors, pulsing, etc.).

The Mindsensors EV3Lights are LED lights that are controlled by the EV3 brick. For more information, see the product page here: http://www.mindsensors.com/products/182-ev3lights-rgb-led-strip-controller-for-ev3-or-nxt

Comments – The Most Useful Pieces of Code that do Nothing

How can something that doesn’t do anything be so useful? Comments are a feature used in many programming languages, EV3-G included. They don’t play any function in the program, so they are very useful for keeping notes on what is happening at each part of the program. EV3 comments can also be used to make pseudocode when writing EV3 programs.

MyBlock Parameters in EV3-G – The Ultimate Programming Convenience

This week, I will teach you how to define parameters for your MyBlocks in EV3-G. Parameters provide a very convenient way to adjust the values within a MyBlock in an EV3 program, without having to alter the MyBlock itself.
